We need a CNC Turner setter operator at an Aerospace Engineering company in Hemel Hempstead. Twilight shifts
The CNC Turner position offers a base rate of £16.50 per hour, with an additional uplift. For night shifts, there is a night shift allowance of £3, which applies from the start of the shift until the end. This means the total hourly rate for night shifts will be £19.50, including the night shift allowance for the duration of each shift.
The shift runs Monday to Thursday, starting at 3:00 PM, finishing at 1:30 AM from Monday to Wednesday, and 1:00 AM on Thursday
Manufacturing precision gear splined and threaded components for our clients including Rolls Royce, Eaton, Collins Aerospace, Safran Power Systems, Meggitt and many more. With testing facilities, plus high-precision assembly services for small aerospace assemblies and core packs used in the windings of aircraft generators.
You will be part of a great team, working within a clean environment, producing high precision parts and components for the Aerospace industry. The nature of the work is small to medium batch with medium to high complexity. The primary focus of this position is to work with the Milling and Turning teams to drive safety, quality and delivery, exceeding our customer’s expectations.
Responsibilities
- Operating CNC turning machines and other machines within the Turning department to produce components to customer specification. Typical tolerances of +/- .001” (0.025mm) and occasional tolerances of +/- .0005” (0.0125 mm)
- Working with Planning, Quality and other teams on repeat and NPI jobs to develop manufacturing methods for our customer’s designs.
- Ensure accurate job timings are recorded within the Company’s ERP system, Javelin and scanning on and off jobs.
- Maintain 6s standards within the shop floor
- Participate in Kaizen events and look for continuous improvement opportunities- improving processes with small tweaks or complete re-engineering.
- Setting two axis CNC lathes, problem solving when setting.
- Basic understanding of programming with the ability to read the code.
Experience and Skill Required
- Previous Aerospace experience or similar is required
- Competent in operating CNC Lathes (Takisawa CNC Turning machines) using Fanuc controls , CMZ Turn experience would be an advantage.
- Previous experience of working with a range of materials i.e., Stainless Steel, Nylon, Titanium, Inconel & Aluminum to typical tolerance of +/- .001” (0.025mm) and occasional tolerances of +/- .0005” (0.0125 mm) in line with customer specifications.
- Either apprentice trained or qualified by experience
- Candidate must be capable of operating without supervision and have the capability to problem solve.
