Setter/Operator – Turner
Location: Bedford, Bedfordshire
Salary: Up to £35,000 basic, plus overtime available
Company Overview:
Our client manufactures and supplies a wide range of advanced industrial braking technologies, including disc brake calipers, thrusters, brake systems, and couplings.
Working Hours:
- Monday to Thursday: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- Friday: 6:00 AM – 10:30 AM
Second Shift (as required):
All shop floor contracts include a clause stating that employees may occasionally be required to work a second shift:
- Monday to Thursday: 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
- Friday: 10:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Candidates must be able to work these hours if required. Overtime opportunities are also available.
Role Overview:
The CNC Machine Cell Setter/Operator sets up and operates CNC and manual machines to produce high-quality components. Key responsibilities include:
- Reading drawings, setting tooling, and operating CNC controls
- Performing dimensional and visual checks, making adjustments, and carrying out assembly
- Maintaining safety standards and machine maintenance
- Reporting defects and supporting continuous improvement initiatives
- Liaising with engineering, quality, and supervision to optimise efficiency
Physical Requirements:
The role involves standing, walking, sitting, and manual dexterity, with close vision and focus adjustment. Manual lifting includes:
- Regularly: up to 5 kg
- Frequently: up to 10 kg
- Occasionally: up to 20 kg
