We are looking for an Embedded Design Engineer to join our team in Buckingham.
In this role, you will be responsible for the complete product life cycle of electronic hardware design and embedded software development for Hartridge products.
You will work closely with the Applications Engineering team and the Software Development team, taking sole responsibility for the development and support of PCB hardware and firmware throughout the stages of specification, concept, design, production, service, support, and obsolescence.
We need a self-starter who is proficient in a laboratory environment, capable of conceptualizing and designing PCB hardware and firmware.
Additionally, experience in a development workshop working on our equipment will be beneficial. Strong data analysis skills are advantageous.
**Experience and Skills Needed:**
- High level of competence in Altium and similar design systems (PCB schematic design, layout, and library management). - Strong hardware design capabilities, particularly in power electronics and integration with other machine systems. - Experience with embedded processors (preferably ARM Cortex M4). - Knowledge of digital and analogue systems (low to medium speed). - Familiarity with power supplies and DC-DC converters (3.3V to 200V). - Experience with solenoid actuator drivers. - Proficiency in serial communications (Ethernet, USB, RS232, SPI, I2C). - Understanding of A2D and D2A conversion. - Knowledge of EMC regulations.
- Strong firmware development capabilities and associated debugging techniques (C, Keil IDE). - Competence in beneficial programming languages/tools for data processing, visualization, and analysis (e.g., Python, SQL). - Familiarity with revision control systems (e.g., Subversion SVN). - Experience with PCB test rig and process design. - Knowledge of a wide range of processor architectures and associated tools/compilers. - Skills in soldering PTH and SMD devices. - Ability to create and develop technical specifications.
